About us.

Founded by online educators, SYS Education seeks to help schools by providing educational and educational-adjacent services typically provided by a management company: services like providing, distributing, and managing devices for staff and students; managing, training, and technical support for your school’s learning management system and online classroom; website creation, social media consultation and marketing; and instructional support for teaching using the technology and platforms provided and managed by SYS.

All of our services can be chosen a la carte or you can partner with us for a more comprehensive solution. Whether you are a brick and mortar school district wanting to future proof your schools or an online school looking to move in a different direction, SYS Education can help.

Meet the Team

  • BEAU NEAL

    FOUNDER AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

In his role as CEO, Beau’s principal responsibilities are to pioneer SYS Education’s growth and expansion into new school districts and to execute the brand’s vision of providing educational and supportive services that are tailored to each unique partner’s needs. Beau has been passionate about learning since childhood, and his first foray into the education sector was at an online teaching job where he quickly recognized that the standard construct of online learning was inherently flawed. Driven by a desire to improve online education Beau, along with Dr. Todd Schweitzer, co-founded Frontier Charter Academy in 2015. Spurred on by the success of Frontier Charter Academy, Beau founded SYS Education in 2019, where he works with schools to provide personalized curriculum and support to online students.

In his free time Beau enjoys reading and writing, spending time with his family, and watching basketball.

  • TIM BATIUK

    CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER

At SYS Education, Tim leads the organization’s vision to implement its partner schools and students with a tailored, a la carte learning experience, made possible by SYS Education’s technology solutions, online learning software and platforms. His core responsibilities include providing technical thought leadership and support for SYS’ systems and curriculum, overseeing the adoption process of technology hardware by partner schools, and maintaining inventory management as SYS Education continues its expansion to new schools and districts.

Tim’s passion for education aligns seamlessly with SYS Education’s curated approach, with a strong belief that curriculum should be determined through collaborative input from all stakeholders—the board, administrators, teachers, parents, and students – to achieve the most rewarding, engaging and personalized learning environment possible. Since joining SYS, Tim’s leadership has been an essential component of delivering a consistent technological experience as the organization expands its platform to schools and districts across the US.

Outside the (virtual) classroom, Tim enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, biking, reading, and art.

  • JAKE PIETZOLD

    CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Jake is an essential catalyst in SYS Education’s growth and expansion into new school districts and partnerships. He brings more than a decade of experience to his role as CFO, where his leadership and expertise is pivotal in ensuring that the company’s financial flexibility and budgets are operating as smoothly as possible, enabling them to execute and achieve these goals. Before joining SYS Education in 2019, Jake spent more than 14 years working for Miller Paint Company in Portland, Oregon, where he served as Manager of Cost Accounting & Budgeting and then Corporate Controller. Over the last two years, Jake helped SYS Education overhaul its administrative and financial operations with the introduction of automated solutions, and is primarily responsible for managing the delicate balance of ensuring that SYS Education’s school partners are supported in their budgetary needs while also allowing SYS Education to continue building its growth trajectory as efficiently as possible.

Jake holds certifications in Strategy & Competitive Analysis (CSCA), Internal Auditing (CIA), and Management Accounting (CMA), and is a graduate of Eastern Oregon University. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and participating in his children’s athletic endeavors.

  • DR. TODD SCHWEITZER

    CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER

Dr. Todd Schweitzer has been in educational leadership and classroom teaching for nearly 20 years, but has a unique path landing him where he is today. Todd began his career working in the Oregon agricultural equipment industry, where he saw the need for a service for local equipment dealers and created a trucking company to fulfill the need. He continued his formal education with a B.S. in Social Science at Portland State University, and later his MAT, including endorsements in Special Education, Social Studies, Health, and Physical Education. After teaching in both the middle school and high school settings, Todd earned his Ed.D., in Educational Leadership from George Fox University.

Always pursuing new ideas and innovation, Todd moved into virtual education, where he has taught, and worked as school administrator. Todd’s unique experiences continue as he has been an administrator at two different virtual schools in Oregon with the largest comprehensive corporate management structures.

In 2017, Todd co-founded along with Beau Neal, Frontier Charter Academy, an independently run virtual school in Oregon. Also working as the Director of Operations at Oregon Charter Academy (ORCA, formerly Oregon Connections Academy), Todd was pivotal in ORCA’s shift to becoming Oregon Charter Academy, allowing the school to self-manage and pursue an excellent experience for both students and staff. Todd continues his work with state legislators to write legislative bills that ensure virtual school options are available for all students.

Dr. Todd Schweitzer’s unique career path and experiences allow him to be an invaluable resource for schools wanting to move away from their corporate management structure, or schools and districts looking to add a virtual option for students.
